I got a shed for Christmas, we ordered it from Tiger Sheds, when they had a deal on and whilst we didn't get much of a discount (about £25) it was still money better in my pocket than theirs!! I was particularly impressed with the choice, service and delivery. I ended up getting an 8x6 shiplap pent shed but because the path up to my plot was very muddy it wasn't really passable carrying 7 very heavy panels and it's not stopped raining for long enough to lay the slab that Mr L put down last week, it's been sat in the garden at home for about 6 weeks.
Mr L borrowed a van from work to get everything up there and we loaded it all up, got up to the car park and then Mr L and I carried the floor up to the plot. It was crippling and that was the lightest panel - oh dear! We walked back down to the van and Mr L had an idea! Off he drove back to the house bringing back middle L's go-cart. We loaded each panel onto the cart with Biggest L (aka grumpy teenager) helping his Dad to guide them up the hill. Once we used the cart we got them all up the plot really quickly and Mr L cracked on with putting the panels together.
I have to admit that I misidentified the roof as the back panel so poor Mr L was struggling to understand how on earth it went together (oops!) Once he realised that we'd got it wrong he soon cracked on with fastening the panels together and before I knew it we had a shed - yippee!!! You can see that there is plenty of room in front for my chair and also plenty of room at the side for my waterbutt. I have a brown turkey fig that I'm intending to put on the path in front of the shed and I think you can see from this photo that the pond and my bird feeding station is nicely in front of the shed so I'm very much looking forwards to having my cup of coffee in that area of my plot.
Once we had the shed built but before we put the windows in I popped down to Wickes to buy the paint. I had been looking at Cuprinol Garden Shades and I particularly liked Summer Damson but when I went to buy it I decided it was really too expensive (£23 each or 2 for £30) and I started to look for a cheaper alternative. The problem is that the cheaper ones don't come in the range of colours but I found a Wikes own with a really nice shade of blue so I picked that one (£16 each or 2 for £20). My plan at the moment is to paint the outside and then I'll decide what to do with the inside.
Bigest L also wants to decorate the shed so I'm trying to encourage him to draw flowers on the sides and he wants to buy the cuprinol garden shade test pots to paint them - I'll keep you posted on how he gets on.
I will take a moment to update you on my little pond pump, it was a very cloudy day here in Yorkshire and unfortunately my pump was not charged enough to work, the mini fountain did come on a few times but unfortunately not enough for it to really make a difference. I think I'll be investing in more oxygenating plants and just use the pump for visual effect when I'm there.
